Cicak Man, Malaysia's 1st attempt to create a super hero. And I must Admit i was sceptical at 1st, due to the unending POOP that's been given to us by A local director known as YH. Luckily Cicak Man is not directed by him. SO here's the Skinny on Malaysia's 1st Super Hero and NO Keluang man doesnt count.

Plot
The basic plot is about a lab assistant that drank a mug of coffee that contained and irradiated Lizard and thus got his powers. The Cinematography was pretty decent and the script at some parts was brilliant. The humor is basically your typical slapstick Malay humor which appeals to Most of the malay's in the West Side. Pacing of the movie was a bit of a letdown being high powered and fast in the beginning but went kinda slow in the middle only to pick up again somewhat in the end. Made the movie feel a bit disjointed at points.

SFX
The effects in the movie are good, don't expect LOTR level of SFX but it's on par with some of the earlier Kamen rider series from the 80's especially Black RX. They pulled it off well..not amazing, but good enough to not mess up the action bits.

Characters
This is the part where i have the most problems with the movie. The villian, Professor Klon is suppose to be a Ripoff of the riddler which was cool at 1st but it got really annoying later on when he just acted like a retard. The 2 Matrix twins were also a problem, they did little to add to the movie and their characters aren't really fleshed out. As for Cicakman himself, Saiful Apek did a pretty decent job, but at some point his acting didn't seem convincing enough.

Cicakman Powers
Stick on surfaces,Healing factor,tounge lash,Somewhat super speed and agility. and towards the end of the of the movie displayed superhuman strength when he kicked his CLONE 346km from the city although this is unconfirmed.

Fight scenes
the fight scene in Cicakman left a lot to be desired. The action choreography was not really all that great even to the point of appearing goofy and silly. The only fight scene even remotely worth watching was the final fight towards the end. That at least had a bit of feel to it.

Love Scenes
Zip,zilch,nada,bupkiss...not even a kissing scene. Major downer here.

Bottom Line
A good 1st attempt by KRU productions. I didn't feel like Stabbing myself with a spoon while wathcing like I do when i watch YH's movies. A lot of room for improvements but its definitely going in the right general direction. I give it 5.6/10 Lemons
